Craft Closet: Before & After

I have been *itching* to get my hands on this craft closet! This is a repeat client of mine, and every month when I go to her house, I cross my fingers that it's time to tackle that space :)

Finally, last week..... I got my wish!

This is an awesome space.....it was in a huge closet off of her bonus room. She was using it to store Christmas & regular gift-wrapping supplies, scrapbooks & crafting supplies, lots of pictures & keepsakes of her 3 kids, stationary, extra gifts, and a few miscellaneous items.

Left side of the closet
Luckily, she already had a ton of these plastic 3-drawer Rubbermaid containers, so we repurposed those and created a very organized space for all of her wrapping supplies. (If you can zoom in close enough to read some of the chalk labels, you will see that there are drawers designated to Christmas bows, Christmas gift tags, Christmas treat boxes....and the list goes on. We used 14 drawers for JUST Christmas items!! I'm so excited for her to wrap presents come December. She will have *everything* she needs, and more importantly, be able to find it easily.)
Right side of the closet
We used the charcoal-colored bins to designate "keepsake bins" for each of her children. (Each get two.) I added hanging chalkboards (my fave!) with each child's name for easy visibility.
Top 3 shelves of closet
My client already had 6+ tan photo boxes, so once we did an initial sort with her old pictures, they were placed into photo boxes for each family member.
Bottom 2 shelves of closet
Now there is lots of room for scrapbooks and photo boxes!
Far right side of closet
Let's look at this beauty, one more time! Oh how I love a good "before & after".....

My Office Transformation

My office transformation has been a year in the making,
and today I'm finally ready to share it with you.....
My "before" desk was almost 20 years old (yes, it was my husband's when he was in college!), so I have desperately been wanting to replace it. But it took me some time to find exactly what I was looking for.

I found this beauty (and the chair!) on Overstock.com if anyone is wondering :) Plus, I was determined to get the printer off the desk, so I purchased an old filing cabinet and moved the printer on top. Add some desk organizers, a cute bulletin board, custom mouse pad off of Etsy.com and a lamp, and I was in business!

Next up, the drawers were in need of some TLC! I lined my new desk drawers with contact paper, and then purchased some simple acrylic drawer organizers from Target. (Plus, it helps that the new drawer is much wider!)

Again, another acrylic divider with some contact paper, as well as Velcro straps to keep those pesky cords organized.
The old bookcase help my scrapbooks, plus my kids' craft supplies. Well, we added a second bookcase to accommodate some of my work materials, and the kids ever-expanding craft stuff.
The bookcase on the left holds my things, and the one on the right is for the kids. Most of the white containers are from the Dollar Store (!), the baskets are from TJ Maxx, and the thin black art boxes up top are from the Container Store. They hold my kids' XL art projects from school, etc.

The kids' stuff is divided into boxes/buckets for:
-paint
-stamps
-stickers
-sewing
-creations
-loose paper
-beads
-rainbow loom
-miscellaneous supplies

Yes, we like to "craft" in my house!!
I hope you like my office transformation! Please comment below if you have a question on a certain product & where I purchased it. Or, if you need any ideas on how to organize your office & craft supplies!

My Craft Room Transformation

I wanted to show you more than just another "before & after" picture in today's post. Mostly because these are pictures of a transformation that is near & dear to my heart.....

I feel very fortunate to have this space in our house. It was originally built as a sunroom, but we have turned it into an office / craft room. Both the kids and I love to do crafts, scrapbook, color, etc. and it's so nice to have a spot for that!

When we moved in 3+ years ago, this room was being used as an art studio. Hence, the paint-splattered concrete floors. I told my husband I could live with the awful floors.....temporarily. Finally, a few months ago, we got new flooring & baseboards and it made such a difference! Not to mention the two "new to us" tables, as well as clearing a LOT of clutter.
My craft table got revamped, I bought a larger tray to corral my supplies, and I moved the kids' school / memorabilia boxes into the basement:

The kids' craft table got upgraded from a card table to a table set I found online & refinished:

And voila! A transformed craft room.

And obviously, this transformation didn't take place in a 4 hour period. This one happened over time, and sometimes, that's just how it is. I'm very happy with the finished product, and I love that I took my time figuring out exactly what I wanted / needed in there to make it function properly for our family.

Let me know if you have a space in your home I can help transform!

An Art Room Makeover: Before & After

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of working with a former client. She had just moved to a new house and had this whopper of a closet she needed my help with. She has two young children, so to them, this space is not just a "closet," but a ROOM!!

So began the transformation of the new Art Room....

I was fortunate in that it was pretty much a blank slate at the beginning. This client had *seriously* just moved in, so it was fun to unpack all these boxes with her and help transform this space. I wish I could have been there when her 5 year old daughter got home from school & saw it! :) The Art Room now houses all of her kids' games, (some) books, arts & crafts supplies, coloring stuff, as well as her scrapbooking supplies, sewing materials, gift wrapping supplies, and cards. Whew!

Here's a few more close-ups...

Happy Organizing!
